STUDENT ABSENCE
To report your child's absence please submit the absence through your Skyward Family Access. Instructions on how to do this are below. You may also call the school attendance line.
EARLY DISMISSAL
If you need to pick up your child early, you are required to come into the office to sign out your child. Student's will not be called to the office until you have arrived in the office. ID is required. Dismissal's after 3:45 are discouraged and parent's may be asked to wait until dismissal at 4:00. Student's who return from a early dismissal are required to check back in at the front office.

Why does attendance matter: Attendance habits begin in preschool, helping students learn early on that going to school on time, every day is important. Consistent attendance will help students do well in high school, college, and at work.
Students who miss school are not able to contribute to their classes, miss valuable instruction, and may drop out of school later and limit their future education and career opportunities.
Here are some things to know:
Washington State Law requires all parents, guardians and Washington State residents with children between the ages of eight and eighteen to ensure those children are attending a public or private school. In addition, any children ages six and seven who have enrolled in school are required to maintain regular attendance.
Schools inform parent or guardian whenever the child is absent one day without excuse and inform the parent of the potential consequences of additional unexcused absences. Notification is usually conducted via our automated phone system.
What is Truancy:
Truancy is defined as a student subject to compulsory school attendance and who is absent without valid cause from such attendance for a school day or portion thereof.
In order to effectively prevent habitual school absenteeism and impact to student learning the law requires schools to intervene early on. The district has adopted a a policy that allows for students to receive the appropriate level of intervention. Schools will conduct attendance conference in groups or individually with families after a set period of absences.
In Elementary (grades K-6), conferences are scheduled after five days of unexcused/ ten days excused absences.
In Secondary (grades 7-12), conferences are scheduled after five days of unexcused absences.
During the attendance conference parent or guardian and students should expect to analyze the cause of the attendance problem and discuss steps to eliminate or reduce absences with a school representatives. Some types of school interventions may include the following:
- Adjusting the Student's school program or school or course assignment.
- Providing more individualized or remedial instruction.
- Providing appropriate vocational courses or work experience.
- Assisting the parent or child to obtain supplementary services that might eliminate or ameliorate the cause or causes for the absence from school.
